The new site, http://cyra-online.com is ready for public consumption, even if not all of it's content is posted or ready.

What you need to know:
0) The import was done TWO WEEKS AGO. Any posts in general chat or new registrations since will notbe on those forums. Sorry. There's too many customizations already in place on the forum structure and membership permissions for me to want to go back and re-import.

1) If you have logged into this forum in the last two years, and posted at least once, your username and password will work on the new ...... Read More

The site was down due to an unfortunate and pesky DNS configuration issue.

For myself and others the site appeared to be up, which conspired to make me not notice there was a problem until two weeks in or so. After that, it's been a combination of busy and a lot of small changes adding up.

We'll be moving to new forums and a new website in the extremely near future, I have decided that these forums will remain as-is but locked for archive purposes. Most user accounts will be moved over to the new site, but the ones that have never been active will not be moved ...... Read More

Hey guys,

I'm putting this update up here since it covers more than my usual art-tasks.

What's been happening since January is land-building for "final world" content with a small team. Now, at mid June we have a fair amount of lands done with the help of our available staff; and we're looking forward to when others are able to return in the future. Progression to level 20-25 is planned, and I hope to continue to advance that up to level 30 but our team is very limited and its a ridiculous amount of work. How much we continue to advance depends ...... Read More

It's a new year!

A while ago I said "Cyra Beta by end of year or bust." Lucky for you, I'm not declaring bust. While not beta, the dev preview did come before the end of the year. Since launch, there have been several large strides in the development of the server\client. It's difficult to show a lot of progress at once, generally because I have to work in phases, with each phase meaning something new for the website, the client, and the server, all at once. But I'll try to give you an update of where we stand right now.

So,

It's been about two weeks since the dev preview went live, and it's been pretty crazy. In terms of the server's performance to date, I couldn't be happier. Despite the extra load of constantly drawing debug text to the console its replies are speedy. If it seems odd to you that I mention simple debug text, it's because the debug logging is currently taking 30-35% of the entire game's processing time.

I mentioned in 12/3 that I was working on lands, and we finally made a gigantic crack in that goal. A week ago I had the first piece done, ...... Read More

Hey guys,

I belatedly realized I haven't updated the forum at large on progress, so amidst all the housekeeping stuff I've been upto today I figured i'd do that now.

Last update I mentioned tackling the Race\Player\Class objects and I'm happy to say that they're now usable. There are still some aspects missing, primarily things that depend on other systems to be done first (such as Guild settings on players, as well as spell lists which in turn rely on spells, etc). In addition, the creation mechanisms are practically done except for, again, ...... Read More

Meant to make this earlier today but it's been a very hectic one.

I've been working on the server the last week and I've made some progress there. I hooked in the database driver that we'll be using, it's different than the last one (MySQL) and for the better, I think.

I created the server objects for blocks and rooms, and the myriad moving parts that those pieces will need such as definitions for regions, co-ordinate points, etc. By themselves they don't do anything, yet, I reached the point where I can't quite glue the pieces together ...... Read More

Part 3 of the client preview is now available on Youtube. This will be the last of the client previews in this series. While I had originally thought there might be 4 videos I felt pretty confident in including Quick Look in part 3 rather than making it it's own video.

I don't think I will be making another video until I've done some work on the server proper, as of right now it's acting like a glorified echo box. The next video you see should have all responses coming from actual, working, game commands and functions. I'm excited to get back to working on ...... Read More

As promised,

Part 2 of the overall client overview is now uploaded. This video deals with the text display and what changes you can expect from the original DFC formatting. Also displays more detail on the weather, day\night, moon, and light level indicator. Lastly I cover the map widget and what changes you can expect there, as well.

Enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5t3h6oofnk

I will not have another video for a few days and we still have to cover the party widget, the plans for the inventory widget, and the quicklook helpers.
